The recent Eighth Circuit ruling in the Minnetonka Schools vs. MLK case is a setback for all students with dyslexia or a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) in reading in MN, IA, ND, SD, NE, MO, and AK.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021 a panel of three Federal Judges will hear oral arguments in the Minnetonka Public Schools vs. M.L.K dyslexia case. The hearing will be open to the public remotely.

A Federal Judge upheld a lower court’s ruling where Minnetonka Schools was found in violation of civil rights education law.
Board members and volunteers wanted for our small, passionate nonprofit focused on the right to read for all children, especially those who’ve been chronically underserved. Willing to roll up your sleeves and be an action oriented, as well as a strategic thinker. Willing to support both bold public initiatives and the work with individual students and families. Interest in, or some knowledge/experience with dyslexia or reading instruction(preK-12) a plus. Previous board membership with a comfortable grasp of basic governance and the ability to support an environment of positive collaboration and teamwork preferred. Special skills in any of the following; web design/graphics, social media/multi-media, fundraising, community organizing, social justice work, advocacy, and content expertise desired.
